The lake is a great one to explore by boat as there are many secluded bays to head to for fishing, swimming or a cruise.

The lake itself is 192 square kilometres and is NZ’s fourth largest lake providing you with a huge Range of options for exploration! The lake is estimated to be more than 300 m (980 ft.) deep. Its name is Māori, a corruption of Oanaka ('The place of Anaka', a local tribal chief).

Ramps and launch sites:
We have a boat ramp at the camp and there are also several others around the lake to access different parts.

Enjoy summer boating on Lake Wanaka
